Mobility Scooters

We stock a number of different models. These range from the lightest models that can be easily dismantled to go in the boot of a car, to the larger models that can take heavier riders and go further between battery recharges. If you're borrowing one for more than a day, then we'll supply a battery charger. We will always go through all the controls with you, until you're confident about the scooter.

For a loan of more than a day, we will deliver and collect.

Some features common to all our scooters

If you've never used one before, pretty well all our scooters have the following features;

  • Forward and reverse gears.

  • Adjustable maximum speed up to a limit of 4mph (a very brisk walking pace)

  • A thumb operated 'hooter' (more like a buzzer really) to warn pedestrians who may be unaware of your presence.

  • Arm rests on the seats swivel upright, for ease of getting on or off.

  • The 'steering column' swivels forward for ease of getting on or off, and can be adjusted backward or forward to get the most comfortable driving position.

  • Can only be driven with the ignition key in place and the ignition turned on.

  • Wheels lock automatically when the scooter is stationary.

  • A release lever frees the wheel lock if the scooter needs to be moved manually.

  • A gauge showing how much charge is left in the battery.

Larger models may have:

  • Lights.

  • Indicators.

  • A warning buzzer that sounds automatically when reversing.

This is our lightest model.

The basket, seat and battery are easily removed. The 'steering column' then folds down flat onto the base.

This will carry a rider of up to about 18st or 115kg, and has a range of around 10miles or 16km

This is a more substantial machine, giving a smoother, more comfortable ride for long-distance use.

Although the seat comes off and the steering column folds flat, you can't remove the batteries, so transporting it in an ordinary car isn't practicable.

This will carry a rider of up to about 21st or 136kg, and has a range of around 20miles or 32km

This the biggest. It's almost identical to the one above, but carries more and goes further.

This will carry a rider of up to about 31st or 200kg, and has a range of around 25miles or 40km

All figures for weights and ranges are approximate. The range will depend on the weight of the rider and the type of use. If you're doing lots of short uphill journeys in Swanage for example, the range will be quite a bit less.

The actual models we have available at any time will vary, as we constantly rotate our stock and as new models become available.

If you're planning to borrow a scooter from us it's a good idea to phone us on 01929 552623 and book in advance. Our loan service is especially busy during holiday periods.
