"LifeWheels" is the
overall name for our project that's aimed at improving mobility, in its
widest sense, for people in the area, with an emphasis on those people
who are disadvantaged by social or physical circumstances.
This all sounds a bit
grand and wordy, but what we're doing breaks down into three separate
strands. There's a quick summary of each one below, and you can learn
more by clicking on the picture next to it, or on the link on the left |
 |

 |
Mobility Aids
At our Mobility Centre, in St Johns Hill in
Wareham, we stock a wide range of mobility aids. As well as obvious
things like walking frames, walking sticks etc, we also stock lots of
things that can help you around your home. |
 |
| Shopmobility
We're the local registered centre for the nationwide Shopmobility
scheme. We hire out wheelchairs and electric scooters on a weekly, daily
or half-day basis. |
 |
|
Wheels to Work
We're the local centre for this scheme, which
provides cheap transport for people who have the chance of a job, or
full-time further education, but who don't have any way of getting to it |

We've had lots of help in the form of grants from
public and private bodies to get started, as well as invaluable help
from local businesses and individuals. However, in the long run we need
to be self-financing, and so we also sell and service bikes, and sell a
range of cycle accessories. |
